Neymar recently expressed his desire to remain with Paris Saint-Germain. Neymar said after PSG’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg match against Bayern Munich that he “feels at home” with the French giant and that he intends to stay at the club.
When his current deal ends next year, Neymar will be a free agent. However, a new contract extension will put an end to any rumours about the Brazilian forward’s possible exit from the club.
L’Equipe provided for further information over where Neymar and PSG currently stand in their contract extension talks. The report notes that for PSG, the French powerhouse would like to finalize the Brazilian’s new deal before the team’s Champions League semifinal tie against Manchester City.
The first leg of PSG’s tie with the current Premier League leaders will come on April 27.
It is not known whether PSG has plans to publicly announce the new deal when it becomes finalized or if the two sides prefer to wait until the end of the season to do so.
This season, Neymar still has a chance to lead PSG to a treble-winning season. With the Ligue 1 match against AS Saint-Etienne and the Coupe de France match against Angers, PSG will have two crucial fixtures in its pursuit of this feat.
