Pandora Papers

The Economic and Crimes Commission (EFCC) has responded to rumors that it has launched an investigation into many Nigerians implicated in the Pandora Papers’ tax evasion and offshore scandal.

According to sources, the Pandora Papers is an investigation of the hidden offshore accounts of 35 international leaders, including current and former presidents, prime ministers, and heads of state, which revealed 11.9 million documents.

Former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, former Aviation Minister Senator Stella Oduah, and Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State were among those whose financial secrets were revealed by the probe.

Others include Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Mohammed Bello-Koko, the acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, the family of former National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd. ), and prominent Nigerian pastor David Oyedepo.

Following the publication of the Pandora Papers, the EFCC has called Obi to answer questions concerning his hidden assets and financial dealings, as well as others who have been implicated in the probe.

According to reports, the anti-graft agency has invited the former Anambra governor to appear at its Abuja headquarters on October 27th for questioning.

Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesman for the EFCC, told The PUNCH on Sunday that he had not been briefed on the investigations. He couldn’t say whether the EFCC will look into Obi and other prominent Nigerians named in the Pandora Papers.
